About Me

Avalon McMullen, MBA

As a lifelong creative with a background in community health education, I’ve spent the last 10 years sharpening my project management, event coordination, and workshop facilitation skills to further mission-driven objectives for the various non-profits I’ve worked with.

In the past 4 years, after becoming a certified professional coach, I’ve utilized client-centered approaches to help individuals and organizations realize and action upon their potential, facilitating countless breakthroughs and subsequent action plans to efficiently achieve their goals.

Even more recently, I’ve married my professional knowledge and passion for building community with my creative storytelling and video editing skills to share what I’ve learned via social media.

  • 10 years of experience of leading and completing projects at mission-driven organizations, two recent examples of this work includes:

    • Developed a comprehensive new hire onboarding checklist that has now been adopted across Duke University.

    • Managed a 1-year catalyst grant funded project, developing a network of CAOs, HR, and EDI leaders called MOSAIC to improve processes at the intersection of operations, EDI, and climate across Duke’s School of Medicine.

  • 7 years of experience coordinating and hosting high-visibility professional and community events including:

    • Hosting a combination of in-person, hybrid, and virtual departmental town halls, retreats, state of the department events, and socials for 150+ people for Duke’s Department of Population Health Sciences.

    • Created a local Latin dance organization, Big Lick Latin Underground with 5 friends, and host multiple events monthly. Our events are consistently the most well-attended Latin dance events in the area with our largest event to date selling 325 tickets.
